A bathroom is the one room where a shortcut cannot stay hidden. Water finds every gap eventually, and by the time it shows on the ceiling below, the tiling has to come off to reach the cause. We treat the waterproofing layer as the real deliverable and the tiling as what protects it.
That means the sequence is not negotiable: sunken slab prepared, waterproofing laid and ponded, plumbing run and checked, and only then the screed and the finish. Each stage is signed off before the next one covers it, so the builder is never asked to take the layer underneath on faith.
Anyone can lay the material. What separates a finish that holds up from one that does not is the work that happens before it goes on.
Waterproofing is flooded and held before the screed goes down. If it does not hold, it is corrected at the stage where correcting it is cheap.
The floor is graded so every point drains to the outlet. No flat corners, no puddle that sits until it evaporates.
Waterproofing is carried up the wall at the shower and wet zones, because the floor-to-wall junction is where failures start, not the middle of the floor.
Setting out starts from the visual centre of the wall so cut tiles land in the corners, and full tiles face you when you walk in.
Tell us where the structure has reached and what the scope looks like. We will visit the site and come back with a plan for the finishing work.
